期刊简介:Urban Research & Practice is a well-established, vibrant and cross-disciplinary journal with a focus on urban studies, that publishes a wide range of original academic research articles along with innovative articles on policy and practice. The journal is published in association with EURA (European Urban Research Association), a network of urban researchers that offers a bridge between research and policy, promoting innovative research design, exchange of ideas and good practice, and knowledge transfer. Urban Research & Practic e seeks to reflect and further enhance the rich diversity of thought, approach and research that currently characterises the study of urban areas in Europe and elsewhere. As such it has played a key part in the renaissance of urban studies making contributions to academic research and policy development. The journal seeks to bridge the intellectual and geographical 'divides' that currently exist in the field of urban affairs, specifically the North/South divide, the East/West divide, divides between distinct academic disciplines, and divides between urban researchers, policy makers, practitioners and activists. The journal publishes research of the highest quality relating to the challenges facing urban environments today including papers that: provide a critical and/or comparative perspective of urban issues, urban developments, urban policies or urban policy making and policy implementation at various scales, seek to explain, analyse and/or evaluate variations in and effects of urban policies or urban governance cross-sectorally, cross-nationally or temporally, analyse European and International factors that impact on urban areas, urban policies and urban governance, explore and evaluate urban sustainability including environmental, social and economic dimensions, analyse how cities - through public policies, place-based actions, and bottom-up initiatives - meet the changing needs of their communities, whilst addressing major challenges such as social inequalities, social segregation and climate change. Article types Academic research articles The journal favours empirical articles suitably positioned in theoretical and/or conceptual terms. Contributions with qualitative research that delve deeply into the empirical experience are particularly welcome. The journal seeks contributions that, while grounded in specific locations, contribute to the wider urban studies literature and theory rather than profile specific cities or phenomena that are relevant to a limited number of locations only. Policy articles and Practice articles As well as traditional research articles, the journal also publishes shorter policy and practice articles. The policy section focuses on new urban policies launched at the international, European, national, regional and local levels that are of relevance to a wider audience. The Practice section focuses on innovative projects, plans, programmes, and place-based initiatives carried out within cities to promote sustainable development. Book reviews Book reviews provide a critical review on new urban scholarship - published across Europe and internationally. Book reviews are published based on a personal invitation from our Book Review Editor. Special issue articles Special issues are an integral element of the journal. Our special issues cover core topics of interest to the journal and consist of 6-8 thematically related contributions. Informal pre-submission inquiries on whether the journal has a potential interest in particular topic areas are welcome. Proposals can be submitted at any time. Peer Review Statement All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by two independent, anonymous expert referees. "With the renewed world-wide interest in cities, Urban Research & Practice fills an important gap and provides a valuable forum for high quality, interdisciplinary urban research and policy analysis." Professor Ivan Turok University of the Free State, South Africa "International in scope and multi-disciplinary in ambition, Urban Research & Practice provides an important forum for the latest thinking from the worlds of academia and the urban professions. It is unmatched by any other journal of its kind." Professor Paul Kantor Department of Political Science, Fordham University, New York, USA
