Visual Resources

期刊简介：Since its founding in 1980, Visual Resources has published more than a thousand articles spanning the widest range of topics concerning images and their uses. The journal’s approach is interdisciplinary and expansive, and its contributors have interpreted such varied forms as paper currency, plaster casts, and scientific visualizations. The journal welcomes submissions of research articles, article commentary, book reviews and artist projects from scholars of art, architecture, film and media, and other forms of cultural production studying the image worlds of all periods and places. Visual Resources has a long history of publishing innovative scholarship on the borders between art history and other fields of visual, material, and digital culture. The dissemination of photographic media and other forms of print reproduction – including posters, postcards, periodicals, and more – is a key focus for contributions to the journal. The journal participates in key methodological discussions in the field, including important contributions to the global turn, visual culture studies, and digital art history. Recent special issues have brought together work on such timely topics as the imagery of financial crisis and the visual culture of the pandemic. Other areas of ongoing focus include the changing visual infrastructures of art pedagogy, collecting and the market, art publishing, the legal and regulatory landscape of image reproduction, including copyright, and critical analyses of the ever-proliferating forms of digital imaging that define contemporary visual culture. Peer Review Policy: All research articles in this journal have undergone peer review, based on initial Editor screening and anonymous refereeing by two readers.
