期刊简介:Contemporary Social Science is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing theoretically informed and empirically grounded social science that addresses pressing contemporary issues across societies, economies, and institutions. Reflecting the objectives of the Academy of Social Sciences to promote social sciences for public benefit, papers should include some indication of their impact for policy and/or practice. The journal provides a distinctive interdisciplinary forum for research that connects social theory, historical analysis, and empirical investigation, with particular relevance to debates in public policy, political economy, governance, institutional analysis, management and organisation studies. It publishes work that deepens understanding of how social, economic, organisational, and political processes are shaped, contested, and transformed over time. Contemporary Social Science welcomes contributions from across the breadth of the social sciences. This includes but is not exclusive to sociology, business, organisation and management studies, political science, economics, social policy, public policy, human geography, science and technology studies and social health and behavioural studies. We are currently particularly interested in research that: · develops or critically engages with social and organisational theory; · examines institutions, power, governance, and forms of organisation across sectors; · explores the social and historical foundations of capitalism, markets, and management; · bridges disciplinary boundaries to generate new conceptual or analytical insights; · situates contemporary phenomena within longer-term historical, comparative, or global perspectives. · highlights the implications of work for policy, business and professional practice. The journal publishes original research articles, theoretically driven papers, historically informed analyses, and critical interventions, as well as special issues that shape and advance interdisciplinary debate. While firmly rooted in the social sciences, Contemporary Social Science actively encourages submissions that speak across disciplines and engage audiences in Business schools, Public Policy and beyond. By fostering rigorous scholarship that combines theoretical ambition, methodological pluralism, and interdisciplinary reach, Contemporary Social Science aims to contribute to ongoing conversations about how societies, organisations, and institutions are understood and governed in an ever-changing world. Contributions are welcome in any appropriate form, including critical essays, reviews of significant topics, qualitative or quantitative empirical studies, including case studies and large-scale statistical analyses. Well documented examples of social science in action, composite reviews of sets of books and other publications are also welcome. Original Articles and Review Papers should be between 4,000 to 10,000 words, with Commentaries between 2,000-4,000 words. Proposals for themes that incorporate a variety of social science perspectives are welcome. They should be sent to the co-editors-in-chief at d.g.bailey@bham.ac.uk and p.r.tomlinson@bath.ac.uk All contributions will be anonymously peer reviewed to determine both academic excellence and the accessibility of the material to non-specialists in social sciences other than the authors.
