Contemporary Buddhism

期刊简介：Contemporary Buddhism is an international, Thomson Reuters-indexed journal that publishes articles on the current and future state of Buddhism. The journal is interdisciplinary in its outlook and encourages submissions from the social sciences and humanities, ranging from anthropology, gender studies, political science, museum studies, philosophy, psychology, history, religious studies and other related fields. Articles are non-confessional and reflect the pluralism of Buddhism as practiced around the world. The journal is especially focused on publishing ethnographic studies of lived Buddhism and traditionally neglected perspectives. These include, but are not limited to, contemporary Buddhism in these contexts: Religion and economics Waste and discard Popular culture Material culture, artisanship, and mass-produced religious goods Esotericism, the cultic milieu and new religious movements Comparative global frameworks Geopolitics, security concerns and soft power Non-normative expressions and debates about what counts as religiosity The Anthropocene and multi-species relatedness Forms of ethno-religious conflict and mutuality Expressions in different political systems, especially late-socialism Contemporary hermeneutic practices Technology studies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ritual continuity and change Repatriation, representation and the contemporary museum Gender and sexuality Alternative pedagogies Wellbeing, eudaimonia, and critical health studies Published articles are a maximum of 8,000 words, including the reference list. The journal is open format and will publish articles in any reference style. Use footnotes and endnotes sparingly. Submissions of articles and proposals for Special Issues related to the scope of the journal are welcomed. We also publish reviews of books, films, and exhibitions.
