期刊简介:South African Theatre Journal provides a leading forum for the academic discussion of issues relating to theatre, performance and the media, notably as these manifest themselves in Southern Africa and further afield on the African continent. The journal features peer-reviewed articles on the history, theory and practice of the performing arts, as well as the methodology of theatre research and performance studies. The journal incorporates theatre reports, book reviews, commentaries, and play texts. Since it is a major aim of the journal to foster multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary studies in the field, contributions are invited from all engaged authors, irrespective of their particular institutional and disciplinary affiliations, or their specific theoretical and methodological perspectives. Research articles published in the journal have undergone rigorous double-anonymized, peer-review after initial screening by the Editor for quality and fit with the journal’s objectives. I would like to endorse the SATJ as a most valuable academic journal for Theatre Arts in South Africa. Prof N J Luwes Head of Department for Drama and Theatre Arts, University of the Free State, South Africa The South African Theatre Journal remains a leading source of critical thinking on South African Theatre and Drama and has become an indispensable part of my research, curriculum development and teaching. Dr Anton Krueger Playwright and lecturer, Rhodes University, South Africa SATJ is the leader in this field and is vital to keep people informed about this vital area of South African culture. Marianne McDonald, Ph.D. Member Royal Irish Academy and Professor of Theatre and Classics, University of California, San Diego, USA As a theatre scholar, especially one that pays attention to the representation of Africa in scholarly journals, I have over the years found South African Theatre Journal an invaluable tool in my research endeavours. Prof P J Ebewo, Department of Drama and Film, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa As a student and later as a Drama lecturer I found the South African Theatre Journal a most valuable tool for the study and the teaching of South African Drama and Theatre. South African theatre and the role it plays in this country (and the world) needs a new focus, in the profession as well as in academia, and specifically in the latter a powerful instrument like SATJ will be indispensable. Dr Johann van Heerden, Retired Theatre Lecturer and TV Executive The SATJ has been an indispensable part of the South African theatre and performance research landscape since its inception. Gay Morris Associate Professor; Drama Department, University of Cape Town, South Africa
