The only journal of its kind in the United States, the Journal of Progressive Human Services: Radical Thought & Praxis® (JPHS) covers political, social, personal, and professional problems in human services from radical and anti-oppressive perspectives. The Journal publishes content that includes theory and practice and assumes that the economic, political, social, and cultural structures privilege some and not others. JPHS engages dialogue and action that challenges power, status quo, and oppressions to create realities that improve quality of life. Within this radical scope, the Journal stimulates debate about major social issues and contributes to the development of the analytical tools needed for building a caring society based on social justice. The Journal's contributors examine oppressions and elevate the voices of vulnerable populations, workers, and citizens, and those who have experienced social service interventions voluntarily or involuntarily. The Journal seeks to analyze dilemmas of practice in contexts, and strategies for ending “isms” -racism, sexism, ageism, heterosexism, and discrimination of persons who are disabled and psychologically distressed. The Journal is affiliated with Social Welfare Action Alliance (SWAA), a national organization of progressive social workers in human services, reflecting a concern for social justice, peace, and coalition building with progressive social movements. Peer Review Policy: All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by a minimum of two anonymous referees. Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 530 Walnut Street, Suite 850, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
