Mobilities

期刊简介：Mobilities publishes articles related to the mobilities turn and the new mobilities paradigm. This encompasses the movements and mobilities of people, objects, capital, information, knowledge and material things at all scales. Papers published in this journal generally have a strong theoretical as well as empirical focus in mobilities scholarship specifically. Articles are expected to contribute deliberately and clearly to the mobilities turn literature, theory, methods and/or audiences. Relevant topics concerned with the ‘mobilities turn’ include, but are not limited to: Large-scale movements of people, objects, capital, and information. Local processes of daily transportation. Mobility rights, access and activism. Tourism mobilities. New transportation, technological and digital infrastructures. The coordination and governance of mobilities. The travel of material objects in everyday life. Mobility in emergencies, disasters and the crises of climate change. Past and future mobilities. Imagined and represented mobilities. The embodiments of mobility and immobility. New mobilities research methods and theories. Mobilities recognises and welcomes interdisciplinary scholarship across the broad range of issues specifically engaging with mobilities scholarship, and encourages qualitative social science as well as arts and humanities approaches. The journal also welcomes ideas for review pieces that critically synthesise and advance new directions in the field – please contact the editors before submission if you have a review idea you would like to discuss. Mobilities publishes original, theoretically informed research which is international in scope. The editors positively encourage submissions from scholars of all ethnicities, and researchers writing from or about the Global South. Mobilities has always encouraged early career researchers to consider publication in Mobilities, and the editors endeavour to ensure that the review and editorial process is constructive and timely. Co-founded by John Urry, Mimi Sheller and Kevin Hannam in 2006, Mobilities has grown and developed into the internationally recognised Journal it is today. Mobilities was accepted by the SSCI in 2010 and stands as a testament to John Urry's pioneering work and leadership in the 'new mobilities paradigm' in social science research.
