期刊简介:Comparative American Studies is an international journal that extends scholarly debates about American Studies beyond the geographical boundaries of the United States, repositioning discussions about American culture within an international comparative framework. At this time of increasing globalization there is a growing need for American Studies to be re-articulated in a comparative manner: that is to say, first and foremost taking account of interactions between the USA and other parts of the world, whilst also fully attending to multi-ethnic comparisons within the USA. The special need for developing international comparison is acknowledged in the USA itself as well as throughout Europe and worldwide; indeed, there is increasing academic interest within the American Studies community in the United States in the development of perspectives on this area of study from outside the USA's borders. The events of September 2001 in New York City and Washington DC have brought home even more sharply how the destiny of the USA must now be understood in relation to global networks rather than simply domestic politics. The main disciplines covered in the journal are: literature, film, popular culture, photography and the visual arts. Attention is also given to history, the social sciences and politics, particularly insofar as these fields impact on cultural texts. The journal publishes research articles, review articles, book reviews, comments, discussions and interviews. Comment - A brief response or critique that might address previously published research, offering alternative interpretations, pointing out methodological concerns, or providing additional insights on the topic. Alternatively, it might provide a more personal meditation on an issue. Discussion - A piece involving multiple authors that examines and debates key issues, theories, or findings, offering multiple perspectives and debate between participants, like to be structured in a back and forth way. Interview - A structured conversation with a researcher, practitioner, or expert in a field, typically exploring their work, insights, experiences, or perspectives on current issues and future directions in the discipline. Peer Review Statement All research articles and review articles are subject to a rigorous peer review process, based on initial Editor screening and double anonymous refereeing by a minimum of two external specialist referees. Editorials, book reviews, comments, discussions, interviews and introductions are assessed by the Editors but are not externally peer reviewed.
